Be A Master Goal Achiever: Six Guaranteed Ways To Achieve Your Goals This Time
Whether it is climbing the corporate ladder, losing weight, starting a business, completing a marathon, finding a new job or even getting out of debt, there are powerful practices that master goal achievers employ to move them out of the crowded lane of wishful thinking and delusional dreaming into the narrow lane of the elite achievers who are non negotiable about attaining their goals with clarity, excellence, strategy and commitment. This blog will give you six practical ways to ensure you are a master goal achiever and not just a sad delusional dreamer.
Before we get into the six tips, it is essential to start with the foundation of all successful goal attainment, which is ensuring that you have clarity by starting with a powerful why. (Check out the video below related to this blog topic).
How To Find Your Compelling Why
In order to ensure that attaining oneâs goal is virtually guaranteed, having a compelling why is instrumental. The why must be so powerful that it will drive you to take action no matter what obstacle presents itself. For example, a woman may understand that alcohol can limit her fat burning ability and she really wants to fit into her favorite jeans for the trip she has planned but that nightly red wine is too delicious to give up so she struggles to stop sipping. That same woman a few weeks later finds out that she is pregnant and within seconds is able to quit drinking all forms of alcohol including her favorite red wine for the next nine months without struggle. You know why? Her reason was so compelling that it was not an option to not stick to her resolve. If your reason for achieving your desired goal is powerful enough, most of the double mindedness and struggle that comes along with sticking to the plan immediately becomes a non-issue. Powerful whyâs gives clarity, focus, provides meaning, purpose, motivation to persist, and fuels your determination. I have found that the most powerful whyâs are bigger than ourselves, beyond our personal ego and connect us with our deeply held life mission and purpose. If you are struggling at the onset of sticking to your plan to attain a goal you can ask yourself the following powerful questions to help you uncover your powerful why.
*Why is this goal important to me?
*Why does it matter?
*How does it relate to the type of person I want to be?
*How is this goal bigger than me? (think about family, friends, community)
*How does this goal relate to the impact that I want to make or the legacy that I want to leave?
Remember these questions are the first step in achieving your goals because if you know your compelling why, you will figure out the how.

Now that you have the compelling why identified to be an absolute goal crusher, you are now ready to move on to the 6 tips to get you to take massive action towards your goal achievement.
1. FOCUS
Focus is a commodity these days, our brains are consistently distracted by everything competing for its attention. It is no wonder we have endless to do lists and never ending goals, but when we try to do everything we will be successful at doing nothing. If you want to achieve a specific goal, make sure it is the most important one and forget everything else. Focus on the main thing and let go of everything else because those other things will be the reason you donât achieve the main goal. Master one thing and then you can move on to the next.
2. EMPLOY THE RIGHT STRATEGY
Once you have determined your main goal, study what the successful in the field you are going after are doing and do that! There are people who have successfully mastered what you want to do, so become diligent students of their effective methodology and process. Be obsessed about learning it inside out. Donât try to reinvent the wheel if the strategy is effective. You can decide to tweak it down the road to custom fit who you are, but find a strategy that is proven and stick to it long enough to get results. Do what works and donât strategy hop (yeah, I just made up that phrase đ)! Again, this is about focus and giving it enough time to reap the results.
3. MEASURE AND TRACK
What isnât measured doesnât get done so get your spreadsheet out and track daily progress towards your goal. Quantify every single thing and write it down. Measurement and tracking is important for many reasons, the first, because it is a motivating way to help us stick to our plans. When we see daily progress through tracking, we feel a sense of accomplishment every time we check the box that we have taken the action. Why do you think Fitbit is so powerful? The daily tracking against steps is a powerful motivator not to break the chain of consistency. Another reason measuring and tracking is important is because it gives us data. Data tells us so much, it tells us what is working and what isnât working. We can make informed decisions on what to tweak or change to get better outcomes. We can see where the process is ineffective and breaks down. This is why Engineers and analytical people love to measure and track because the data they have is powerful to inform the change in direction that they may need to take to get the outcomes that they want to get. Great data is one of the biggest competitive advantages that successful goal achievers have that others donât. My vote is to stack everything in my favor that will help to guarantee goal attainment including doing the seemingly tedious work of measuring and tracking! Whatâs your vote?
4. ROUTINES: SET YOURSELF UP TO WIN!
You have probably heard of the importance of routines from the personal development gurus out there. Doing things like exercise, meditation, visualizations and affirmation. Well, there is a reason that these practices have been around for centuries and that high achievers daily engage in at least one or two of them. The reason is that they work in setting them up to win. How you start your day determines everything. Letâs start with the most frequently discussed routine, exercise. In his book High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard, he states that, âThe top 5 percent of high performers are 40 percent more likely to exercise three times per week. Everyone wants health, but they may think they have to trade it for success. Theyâre wrong. In survey after survey, we find high performers to be more energizedâmentally, emotionally, and physicallyâthan their peers.â So here, exercise is not only a habit of goal achievers but the habit is an achievement enabler as it gives them the energy and stamina to go after the goal. For more on these routines check out this blog on How To Bounce-back During Challenging Times, where I discuss the S.A.V.E.R.S. ritual to sustain long term peak performance.
5. BE CONSISTENT
Those who achieve goals and those who donât have another major thing that sits between them. Master goal achievers stick to the plan every single day over the long haul, in other words they are consistent. A lot of things may get in the way of consistency such as lack of motivation, but also not having the right plan that will help you to prepare in advanced for unexpected events. I will tell you personally for example that one of the reasons I was consistent in the first six months of my blog was that I learned from expert long term bloggers to batch content production. This means to have anywhere from 2 to 20+ blogs already written long before the go live dates so that I am not scrambling at the last minute to think of a topic or to write a blog when I have to travel unexpectedly or something else that is unplanned comes up (I am now working on implementing this with my YouTube channelđ¤, which I am shamelessly asking you to check out and subscribe here). Being consistent is not just about motivation as you can see, it is also about having an effective strategy and accountability where needed. This is why getting a coach, or mentor for accountability and to share expert strategies can be so effective.
6. CREATE COMMUNITY
This last one can be the greatest downfall of the bold and powerful đ even if the others donât trip you up. The days of the Lone Ranger is over. If you want to succeed, accelerate your learning curve, stay motivated, be inspired, avoid mistakes that are common and just not feel like you are the only one working towards something bigger than the urgent now, find a community of people that are likeminded, doing the work and pursuing similar goals. You are not alone, donât forget we rise together!!
